The Wishing Fairy

When I have dreams, I make them real. I don’t always remember the beginning, but I find it’s
best to start at the end and work my way backwards. The night before our Summer Solstice
performance at Passing Clouds, I dreamed I met a handsome stranger. He sang to me of
sunshine and when he told me I was beautiful, he made me believe him.
The Summer Solstice is a time of transition and renewal. This new rush of energy may
encourage people to find the path to make their own dreams come true. I built an altar of wishes for the night of the summer solstice; for free drinks, easy lovers, good music, and dancing.

Beneath a leaking tent in little clothing, I kept watch for my sunny stranger. The seduction
was easy enough. My fairy altar soon had a long queue of party goers seeking me to grant
wishes and make their night a little more magical. I warned my soaked patrons that it was
too dangerous to change the weather mid storm, as such force could be met with an equally
horrible drought. We laughed together at our ridiculous fate and vowed to dance in celebration
of the rain, if only to keep warm.

As the night got colder, I worried that my dream must look different from how I remembered. I
may not recognize the stranger if he was disguised as a drunken beast or under the influence
of fairy dust. I had nearly lost all hope when a bevy of brazen beasts in flower crowns curiously
approached my altar. I drew them close to begin the wishing ceremony. I was so focused on
remembering the words, I forgot to pay attention to the person whose hand I was holding. ‘Well, you’re quite the pretty pixie, aren’t you?’ When I looked up and recognized him, my voice caught in my throat. Recovering as quickly as I could, I curled my finger towards the man to invite him closer. ‘Sing to me...’ I whispered. He smiled and said he couldn't tonight, but he hoped I could grant his wish to find some sunshine and magic pixie dust. It was Pete Doherty and his wish must have come true because the next day he checked into rehab.
